Setting up your family

About five minutes for the first device, then a minute for each person who joins. You only need one account for the whole family — children never need an email address of their own.

Watch it done first

Two minutes through the whole app — setting tasks, a child claiming one, a parent approving it, and coins going into a savings goal. The four stages below are the same thing written down, so you can follow along.

STAGE 1

Create the family

Do this once, on a parent's phone or in a browser.

  1. Open Bloomly and tap Set up my family
    On a phone, download Bloomly Family first. In a browser, go to app.bloomly.pro.
  2. Choose Family, Household or Solo
    Family is the usual choice — parents and children with different permissions.
  3. Create your account
    An email and password. This is the family's cloud backup, and what lets everyone else join later.
  4. Name your family and your coins
    Coins can be called anything — StarCoins, SharmaGold, whatever your children will enjoy earning.
  5. Add everyone in the family
    Each person gets a name and a role: Parent or Child. Add the whole household now, including any other adults — you can always add more later.
  6. Set your controls and features
    Whether tasks need approval, spending limits, how much goes to savings. All of it can be changed afterwards.
About PINs. Any member can have a 4-digit PIN. For a parent it protects approvals, so a child can't award themselves coins. For a child it simply locks their own login. Give every parent a PIN — it's the one thing that keeps the coin economy honest.
STAGE 2

Add everyone else's devices

One code per device — for your children, and for your partner.

  1. On the parent's device, go to Settings → Add a device
    A 6-character code appears. This is how you add any device — a child's tablet or another adult's phone.
  2. Share the code with that person
    Read it out, message it, whatever is easiest.
  3. On their device, open Bloomly and tap 📲 Join a family
    It's on the very first screen, underneath the setup button. They type the code in and your family loads.
  4. They pick their name
    Everyone in the family is listed. They tap themselves, enter their PIN if they have one, and they're in.
Codes expire after 2 hours and each one works only once. That's deliberate — a code shared in a group chat can't be used by someone else next week. If it stops working, just generate another; there's no limit.
STAGE 3

Who can do what

Worth knowing before you hand a device over.

Parents

Create and approve tasks, award coins, set allowances, approve withdrawals, change controls, and generate codes for new devices. Only a parent can do any of this.

Children

Mark tasks as done, save toward goals, add things to a wish list, and ask to swap coins for real money — which a parent then approves.

A second adult is just another Parent. Add your partner as a member with the Parent role, then send them a code. They get exactly the same abilities you have, on their own phone, with their own PIN.
STAGE 4

A good first week

The families who stick with it tend to do these early.

  1. Set up two or three real tasks
    Things that genuinely happen anyway. Bed made, homework done, dishes cleared.
  2. Let your child choose one savings goal
    This is where the maths quietly happens — they work out how many tasks stand between them and the thing they want.
  3. Decide what a coin is worth in real money
    In Parental Controls. Without it coins stay abstract; with it, children start making genuine trade-offs.
  4. Approve the first task together
    Seeing the balance move is the moment it clicks.
